Cereal Cropping

Tropical regions are characterized by the presence of sun, land and water that are all favorable factors  for cultivation. Although the high temperatures, the presence of virgin lands and the huge rainfalls do not allow to reach the same level of yield that  is obtained in the northern regions, it is still possible and necessary to implement Agricultural practices aimed at optimizing the local production yield.

Through years, SABI has developed a strong expertise on the field in matter of cereal cultivation. Initially to sustain the Poultry Industry it has been necessary for SABI to develop a set of best practices for maize cultivation. For this purpose we have been developing strategic partnership with the main players of the sector and we devised a sustanable model for maize farming.

Our team has been guiding local farmers through the creation of a solid out-grower scheme, thanks to which the rural communities of the Northern Region of Sierra Leone have been able to increase their yields and to generate resources to take care of their families.

In this context SABI plays a role of mediator between the different parties: Negotiation with the bank to unlock loans for farmers;  Provision of agricultural inputs and equipment; Monitoring of the activities of the different farms; Marketing of the final products to local business.

Nowadays SABI is expanding its expertise by following up other projects that aims at building up a sustainable production of Rice, Sorghum and different Vegetables.

SABI follows the full agricultural process, from the sourcing of land and inputs to the processing and sales of the final product.
